The Belden IBDN GigaBIX Cross-Connect System takes advantage of the proven reliability of BIX technology to provide high-performance connections for data networks. This uniquely designed system allows for very high termination density, while maintaining optimal ease of administration to accommodate moves, adds and changes.

Advantages of the Belden IBDN GigaBIX Cross-Connect System include easy installation and cable management, coupled with the industry’s best performance-to-price ratio for high-density connectivity. The system allows up to 300 pairs to be terminated in a very small area – a real space-saving advantage in today’s office environment where real estate is at a premium.

The GigaBIX System can be used in the IBDN 4800, IBDN 3600, IBDN 2400 and IBDN 1200 Systems.

The core elements of the Belden IBDN GigaBIX System include:

GigaBIX Connectors – an extremely compact connector equipped with double-sided Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC) clips in a symmetrical construction which allows termination of high-performance cables on one side and GigaBIX Cross-Connect Wires or Patch Cords on the other. The GigaBIX Connectors offer maximum signal transmission stability.

GigaBIX Mounts – The GigaBIX Mount for wall installations hold 12 GigaBIX Connectors and is designed to accommodate up to 144 high-performance cables when used in a top-to-bottom cross-connect layout. The GigaBIX Rack Mount Panel allows for the customization of rack mount installations for data, voice of multimedia installations. This panel can accommodate up to 8 GigaBIX Connectors, for a total of 48 terminations of 4-pair UTP cables, or up to 4 GigaBIX/MediaFlex Adapters for a total of 48 multimedia ports.

GigaBIX Patch Cords – a plug-and-go solution for high-density cross connections, as well as interconnect configurations. Flexible design and construction facilitates fast, easy terminations. Belden offers CAT6+ GigaBIX Patch Cords for Category 6 installations, and CAT5E GigaBIX Patch Cords for Category 5e installations.

GigaBIX Cross-Connect Wire – a cut-to-length cross-connect solution that provides cost-saving, aesthetically pleasing configuration, with savings of about 80 percent in material costs when compared with a patch panel solution. The GigaBIX Cross-Connect Wire offers maximum transmission stability and exceptional Beyond Category 6 performance.

GigaBIX Wire Guards – plastic strips that snap behind the GigaBIX Connectors after termination to provide strain relef to the twisted pairs. They come as part of the GigaBIX Termination Kits, or they can be ordered separately as replacement components.

GigaBIX Designation Strips – plastic strips that snap between the GigaBIX Connectors to apply the designation labels. They come as part of the GigaBIX Termination Kits, or they can be ordered separately as replacement components (See Technical Information for information on LabelFlex Designation Labels.) GigaBIX/MediaFlex Adapter – allows for mixed media installation. This Adapter can accommodate a variety of MediaFlex inserts, including UTP and multimedia inserts to customize multimedia installation in Telecom Rooms, Equipment Rooms or Consolidation Points.

GigaBIX Termination Kits – contain all components required to terminate cables in a GigaBIX Cross-Connect or Interconnect System, including a GigaBIX Mount to accommodate high-performance cables. Also includes GigaBIX Connectors, Wire Guards, Designation Strips, Designation Labels, Velcro Cable Ties and a detailed installation guide.
