Single Pair Type H1 Fieldbus Cable Procurement Documentation
1.00   Quality Assurance
   
  1. Except as otherwise stated herein, the Fieldbus cables furnished in accordance with the specification shall comply with the latest applicable codes and standards of the Foundation Fieldbus (FF), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC),  the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and Underwriters Laboratory (UL).
  2. As minimum, the latest edition of the following individual standards shall apply:
    1. FF844
    2. IEC61158-2
    3. UL444, UL1666, UL1685, UL13, UL2250
    4. ASTM B-3
    5. NFPA 70 NEC
    6. CSA C22.1-06 CEC
1.01   Submittals
   
  1. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product data for cables.  Cable data shall include both physical and electrical characteristics, as well as all applicable ratings.
2.01   Cable
   
  1. The cables shall be rated for use in communications circuits.
  2. The cables shall be rated for vertical tray applications.
  3. The cable shall be rated for power limited tray applications.
  4. The cable shall be rated for instrumentation tray applications.
  5. The cable shall be rated for exposed run applications.
  6. The cables shall be rated for 105 degrees Celsius applications.
  7. The cables shall be free of defects and splices.
  8. The cables shall pass a -40 degree Celsius cold bend test per UL 1581.
  9. The cable shall be ROHS compliant.
  10. The cable shall be CE compliant.
2.02   Conductor
   
  1. The conductors shall be stranded, tinned copper per ASTM B-33.
  2. The conductors shall be #18 AWG (.20 sq mm).
2.03   Insulation
   
  1. The insulation shall be polyolefin.
  2. The insulation shall be free of defects and splices.
  3. The insulation color code shall be blue and orange.
2.04   Pairs
   
  1. The cable shall contain one pair.
2.04   Shielding
   
  1. Shielding shall be an aluminized foil with the foil facing inward.
  2. The cable shall include a stranded tinned copper drain wire.
  3. A drain wire shall be in continuous contact with the foil.
  4. A separator tape shall be applied for isolation
2.05   Jacket
   
  1. All cables shall have a continuous jacket of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).
  2. The jackets shall be .050" (1.27 mm) nominal thickness.
  3. The jacket shall be orange in color.  Alternate colors are acceptable when approved.
  4. The jackets shall be ultraviolet (UV) radiation and sunlight resistant per UL 1581.
  5. The jackets shall be oil resistant per UL 1581 Class 43.
2.06   Identification
   
  1. The cables shall be permanently marked with the following information at 2 foot (61 cm) intervals:
      1. Manufacturer's name and or trademark.
      2. The number of pairs and size (AWG).
      3. UL NEC and CEC listings.
      4. Sequential footage marking.
      5. RoHS compliance.
2.07   Packaging
   
    1. The cable shall be provided on 1000 ft (305 m) reels.
    2. Alternate reel lengths shall be acceptable.
    3. The length shall be exact, within 1%.
    4. The cable shall be one continuous length, free of splices.
    5. The cable shall be stretch wrapped.
    6. No adhesive tapes shall be used to secure the cable end.
2.08   Reel Markings
   
    1. Manufacturer's name.
    2. Number of pairs.
    3. Size of conductors (AWG and sq mm).
        1. Manufacturer's name and or trademark.
        2. The number of pairs and size (AWG).
        3. UL NEC and CEC listings.
        4. RoHS and CE markings.
2.09   Factory Tests
   
    1. Lot testing shall be performed per UL 444, UL 13 and UL2250 requirements for continuity, shorts and dielectric withstand.
    2. Lot tests shall be performed for
      1. Impedance 100 +/- 10 ohms at 31.25 kHz
      2. Attenuation 0.914 dB/1000’ max at 39 kHz
      3. Direct Current Resistance 7.32 ohms/1000’ max at 25 C
      4. Capacitance Unbalance 1.2 pF/ft max avg at 1 kHz
    3. Lot test results shall be recorded and archived for a period no less than one year.
