When you’re faced with the choice, which do you choose: Cable and connectivity that perform well and meet expectations? Or cable and connectivity that are cost effective so you can keep the bottom line in check? Using inexpensive components may keep costs low but could create performance problems and termination issues, which can slow down the entire AV project.

Connectors that are simple to install can be installed faster, which lowers labor costs. But connectors that install quickly become useless if they frequently fail and require rework as a result. Low-loss connectors pass testing more often and fail less frequently, which can further lower labor costs along with reducing rework.

When analyzing the true costs of AV cabling and connectivity, labor and yield are important issues to factor into the equation. Higher material costs can often be recovered if the solution is easier to install and requires less rework.
