Belden is a $2 billion corporation which specializes in signal transmission technologies.  Belden designs, manufactures, and sells signal transmission solutions for industrial process and discrete automation, data centers, broadcast studios, and building automation markets. The company’s cable products include copper cables comprising shielded and unshielded twisted pair cables, coaxial cables, stranded cables, and ribbon cables; fiber optic cables; and composite cable, such as combination of multi-conductor, coaxial, and fiber optic cables. It also produces and sells connectors primarily for industrial and data networking applications, as well as sells end-to-end structured cabling solutions.

The company’s active IT solutions are primarily marketed under the Hirschmann, Garrettcom and Tofino brand names.  The company is a global leader in the industrial Ethernet marketplace and offers a myriad of products, including an extensive offering of  DIN and 19 inch rack mounted solutions, hardened Ethernet switches and routers, fiber optic interfaces, media converters, firewall appliances, fiber repeaters, 802.11 wireless products and software packages used to monitor and control Industrial Ethernet networks.  Belden also offers a complete suite of network services, including network design, commissioning, troubleshooting and training.  

The company sells its products and services directly to original equipment manufacturers, and installers of equipment and systems, as well as to distributors. It primarily operates in the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. The company was formerly known as Belden CDT Inc. and changed its name to Belden Inc. in May 2007. Belden, Inc. is based in St. Louis, Missouri.  Belden acquired Hirschmann Automation and Control and Lumberg Automation in 2007, and Garrettcom and Byers Security in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
