Belden was recently recognized as a “W” Winning Company by 2020 Women on Boards for having a gender diverse board of directors.
Winning ‘W’ Companies are cited in the 2020 Women on Boards annual Gender Diversity Index which tracks the numbers of corporate board seats held by women among the Russell 3000 Index. As of 2018, the percentage of board seats held by women rose to 17.7%, up from 16.0% in 2017. This upward trend represents good progress, but still, half of the Russell 3000 companies have one or no women on their boards.
The year 2020 is significant because it marks 100 years since the ratification of the 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote in the U.S.
“Belden’s board of directors is composed of highly-skilled, experienced executives who are vital to the governance of our business. The diversity of experience of our directors fosters robust discussion and allows us to better serve our key stakeholders,” said John Stroup, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Belden Inc. “At Belden, we are commitment to investing in a talented, diverse workforce – from our board of directors to associates across the globe.”
“We applaud Belden for engaging the diverse opinions and perspectives of both genders on their board," said Betsy Berkhemer-Credaire, CEO of 2020 Women on Boards. "Studies have shown that the varied perspectives of women are uniquely valuable to corporations and the challenges they face today.”
