Belden was proud to sponsor the 2017 FIRST Championship event. Students from more than 50 countries gathered to demonstrate their science, technology, engineering and math skills by building fully-functioning industrial-sized robots that go head-to-head in a skills challenge.

We have multiple associates who participate and volunteer with FIRST along with their families. This includes President, CEO and Chairman of the Board John Stroup, whose daughter has been in FIRST for years, is participating in this year’s competition.

Belden associates got a firsthand look at the celebration of science and technology with all of the student mentors at the 2017 Leadership Conference. The students showed poise and expertise beyond their years as they taught Belden’s leaders how to build robots using spare parts. Their passion was contagious and truly made the team building event one to remember.

FIRST’s mission is to empower and encourage students to take the tremendous skills back to their communities and change the world. We are so excited to help them in their quest to create the next generation of science and technology leaders.
