On September 29 and 30, thousands of bikers from around St. Louis, Missouri strapped on their helmets and hit the road for Pedal the Cause’s annual cycling challenge.

Pedal the Cause was founded in 2009 by Bill Komen, a two-time lymphoma survivor. Pedal provides critical funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. Unique to this organization, 100% of funds raised stay in St. Louis to support cancer research.

Belden was proud to be a corporate sponsor for this year’s Pedal the Cause event.

For one St. Louis associate, the event hits close to home.

“Pedal the Cause means everything to me,” said Chris VanHorn, executive assistant in St. Louis. “My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon/Rectal Cancer in July 2011. He was given a 25% chance to survive a year. More than seven years, 11 surgeries and three heart attacks later, he is now in remission all thanks to Siteman Cancer Center and the Washington University Doctors.”
