Speaker: Daniel Charles email-linkedin

Daniel Charles has been with Belden since 2014, serving in a variety of product specialist roles. Today, Daniel is one of Belden’s global product managers for copper connectivity. In this role, he introduces functional, innovative and time-saving connectivity solutions that meet customers’ bandwidth and budget requirements. Daniel graduated from HEC Montréal in 2011 with a degree in operations management and international business.

Topic: How Reliability Makes Convergence Possible

Have you ever heard of JLL’s famous 3-30-300 rule? It compares the average order of magnitude between a company’s utility, rent and payroll expenses (per square foot, per year):

  • $3 for utilities
  • $30 for rent
  • $300 for payroll

This holistic view of real estate considers hard costs and their impact on people inside the building. We’re at the dawn of new frontier, where labor productivity is as crucial as ever – especially with smart buildings.

It’s predicted that technology will have the biggest impact of all on workforce productivity. (After all, it’s more financially rewarding for a company to save 10% on labor productivity than on energy efficiency.)

During this Belden-led session, attendees will explore examples that illustrate the true costs of network downtime, learning about critical choke points in networks – especially in SD-WAN environments – and what real companies struggle with when their networks go down.

We’ll also discuss how “technical debt” (the implied costs of rework caused by choosing “fast and easy” over “better”) may impact Layer 0 at critical points within a network. With new applications like 5G, virtual reality and remote monitoring and management, many companies can no longer afford the luxury of Layer 0 failures that impact their networks.

How can you overcome the issue of technical debt and make sure that workforce productivity is maximized? Through the use of high-performance, reliable cabling, connectivity and rack and cabinet solutions that create the most efficient IT infrastructure possible. This session will show you how.
