Details: SPE started with the promise of visibility and seamless communication in the field. The APL project and in-cabinet use cases are the pioneers paving the way for SPE in the industry. Others, such as the process industry for non-hazardous materials, might follow. Beside these value-adds, other advantages are less obvious. Nonetheless, SPE technology is becoming a mix of a plug & play and engineered communication technology which necessitates user profiles and implementation guidelines.

PROFINET Device for ControlLogix®
The ILX56-PND PROFINET Device module allows Rockwell Automation® ControlLogix® processors to communicate on a PROFINET RT protocol network supporting up to 1440 bytes of cyclic I/O data. Combined with the use of multiple I/O connections back to the ControlLogix processor, this module provides data update rates that will meet even the most demanding of PROFINET RT applications. In addition, with the use of the PLX50 Configuration Utility, users can leverage advanced features such as custom-built Add-On Routines and User Defined Data Types (UDTs) to minimize the amount of time and effort in getting a ControlLogix PAC operating on a PROFINET RT network.
In-Rack PROFINET Controller Connectivity for ControlLogix
ProSoft Technology’s newest module for ControlLogix PACs is the first in-rack PROFINET controller module for use with Rockwell Automation systems. The ILX56-PNC PROFINET Controller Module allows your ControlLogix to communicate on a PROFINET RT protocol network with up to 64 PROFINET devices. The module offers data update rates that meet the needs of the most demanding PROFINET RT applications. Custom-built Add-On Routines ease integration.
