Force Majeure Impact on PVC Supply

Belden

Several plastic compound suppliers in the United States have declared force majeure after Hurricane Laura devastated parts of Louisiana, where a large amount of PVC resin is produced. Force majeure is when unforeseeable circumstances prevent someone from fulfilling a contract. In this case, this force majeure will cause supply disruptions and limit suppliers’ ability to meet anticipated product demand.

How Belden Can Help

Belden is here for our customers and we are confident in our ability to work through this without production stoppage. We have sufficient material on hand and both our PVC resin supplier and other PVC compound suppliers have confirmed our contractual supply quantities are not affected. Please note that lead times for some items may extend for a short period of time.

Over the past 2 1/2 years, our engineering, procurement, and operational groups have worked to secure a diversified supply chain and have approved alternate sources at several other manufacturers if needed for such situations.

Count on Belden to keep your projects moving forward.
